Multitude Art Prize

DURATION: 2013-04-27 ~ 2013-06-16
OPENING: 2013-04-27
VENUE: Ullens Center for Contemporary Art Central Gallery

Grounded in the concept of the “multitude,” in which the extraordinary (re)emerges from a social group undergoing a geopolitical change, The Multitude Foundation is a Hong-Kong based initiative founded to promote Asian contemporary art through international dialogue. Held annually in a different Asian city, UCCA will host the inaugural 2012 Multitude Art Prize exhibition as well as a series of lectures and panels placing the situation of contemporary Asian art within a global context. The exhibition will feature between five and seven nominated artists representing the most creative, critical minds in a rising Asian contemporary art scene. In the accompanying programs, invited speakers, including leading Western museum directors involved in the new institutional collaborative “The Internationale” as well as those involved in the local art scene, will provide an eclectic, academic analysis of the present and future of contemporary art in Asia.
