Following its success in 2016, Spain Moving Images Festival 2017 come back to Matadero Madrid. The festival includes the full range of contemporary audiovisual and artistic creation, with special focus on China, Taiwan and Hong Kong in this edition. Curator and program Susana Sanz is expert in contemporary art, curator and artistic director of the festival. She has made an exquisite selection connecting the in-between space that exists between cinema and contemporary art, gathering for the first time in Europe the most innovative works of Cheng Ran, Ju Anqi, Ying Liang, Hsu Che-Yu, Yu Depeng or Chen Chieh-jen, among others. Sections and Awards The festival has four sections: China IN Spain, Moving Image from China; Taiwan Special Program Part I; Taiwan Special Program part II and Hong Kong Unit. Screenings will be introduced by some of the directors that visit Madrid for the first time. Besides, an extra session will be screened at Atelier Solar Madrid on September 9th at 5:30 pm, with videos by Ju Anqi, Ding Shiwei, Zhang Ciyu and Hsu Che Yu, who will meet with some international artists to talk about his artworks. The festival has a jury of four famous experts (Carlos Arenas, Margarita Aizpuru, Bernardí Roig and María Rubín) who will award the contents according to the following categories: “Best moving images creator”, “Best moving image work “and” Discovery “. This edition festival is the cooperation between Spain Moving Images Festival and China IN Spain: Chinese film week; it has the collaboration of renowned art centers such as OCAT Shenzhen, Urs Meile Gallery, Vanguard Gallery Shanghai, Videotage Hong Kong or Atelier Solar Madrid among others; and will take place on September 8th, 9th and 10th in Matadero Madrid.
