Hold two conceptual dimensions ; one was to go beyond the limitations of the size of the museum to became a contemporary art center that exercised influence on the art world, and the other was the artists’ media that went beyond the restrictions of a museum. The invited artists tended to select light, de-materialized media; though their art work was still precise , rich and intelligent. Artists resolved the problems of architectural restrictions by using high-tech media such as video and internet, or low-tech media such as sound and light, or even low-tech everyday materials. What was ultimately denoted by all the artworks was humanity -an individual’s reflections upon themselves and the outside world. This is best said by the writer, Italo Calvino, “let the journey of pursuing lightness contest the heaviness of live.” One of the primary objectives of the exhibition was to examine ideas of “communications,” with the local community and the art world. The idea was explored by three themes; 1.The Communication of Hope 2.The Debate with Subjectivity and 3.Material Touches. Communication could be language expression of pasture, or action. The exhibition was conceived to projected the Museum as one that would invigorate Taipei with new cultural energy keeping in step with a rapidly changing society.
