Amidst the changing and transition of the concept of photography over the past years, the development of realistic photography in Taiwan took a direction drastically different from traditional photography. Photographers today in Taiwan have expanded the realm of “photographic arts,” taking interest in a more diversified variety of themes and using more energetic and experimental expression forms. Some photographers have worked individually on long-term photography projects; some have cooperated on teamwork projects. Curated by May-ling Chang, this exhibition showcases the works by 27 realism photography artists/groups in Taiwan. The works are critical representations of and in-depth reflections upon different social and cultural facets of Taiwan through the creative rhetoric of the artists.
